Nurturing and empowering girls aged 11 to 20 in Kampala, so they can grow into confident, resilient and educated young women.
Our home is Banda Zone One, Acholi Quarters, in Kampala’s Nakawa Division, one of the largest informal settlements in the city. Here, poverty, hunger and limited healthcare hit young girls hardest and too often push them out of school.
Young Flowers was founded by Lamara Gloria with a simple belief: every girl is a unique flower, with her own beauty, strength and potential. Given the right conditions (education, good health, mentorship and a community that believes in her) she will bloom.
Since then, girls who were struggling in class have become top performers, and shy girls have grown into strong, self-assured young women.
To cultivate a generation of confident, resilient and educated girls who will blossom into strong women, through mentorship, education and community engagement.
A community where every girl, whatever her background, is healthy, safe, in school and free to reach her full potential.
